Many of our large-scale CHP installations can be Gas Turbine or Spark Ignition Gas Engines. The turbine or engine drives the generator which in turn produces Electricity, the exhaust gases are then passed through a recovery unit which in turn provides the heat required for the site, this can be in either steam or hot water dependant of the end users requirements and internal systems. Where additional steam or hot water is required burning the oxygen rich gases can efficiently produce this, this process is known as after firing. This allows the installation to increase heat output with the facility to moderate heat production without affecting Electricity Generation. As with all CHP installations small or large scale Electricity can be imported from or exported to the National Grid as the demand on the site varies.
